Friends, relatives and clients who attended the 70th birthday party for well-respected local lawyer, Alan Edgington of LDJ Solicitors, have contributed the sum of £600.00 for the benefit of the Nuneaton & Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, a charity sponsored by LDJ Solicitors.
A garden party was held at Alan’s home at Astley Lane in Nuneaton on Sunday 16th July where Geoff Grewcock and his team from the sanctuary attended with some of the animals. The money was raised by way of charitable donations from Alan’s guests and the sale of the sanctuary’s merchandise. One or two (or maybe quite a few) were more than happy to make donations directly into the charity box that was rather appropriately placed on the real ale bar where three splendid ales from, Sperrin Brewery based at the Lord Nelson in Ansley, proved to be a popular refreshment.
Over 150 guests from far and wide, including two of Alan’s grandchildren who flew over from Florida, made it a very special day for Alan.
Geoff, his team and the animals were very popular and there is now very clear photographic evidence that Geoff with Jake the python has made a big inroad into breaking Alan’s acute phobia of snakes however it could be said that a few visits to the real ale bar may have helped Alan to be relaxed enough to take on the challenge!
